Two killed in Killeen car crash from alleged racing on Trimmier
A man and a woman were killed and several Killeen ISD students were injured in a fatal crash Friday when a vehicle that was allegedly racing crashed into another vehicle on Trimmier Road in Killeen.
Two vehicles were evidently racing when one slammed into a black Taurus that was making a left turn on Nichols Drive.
The district made a statement Friday afternoon saying, “The extent of the injuries sustained by the students are unconfirmed at this point, but are believed to be non-life-threatening.”
It was not released which school the students attended, but said there will be counseling support teams to assist students and staff.
“Unfortunately it has been reported the adults lost their lives. We express our deepest sympathies to the families of those involved,” said the district.
According to police, the Camaro was driving northbound on Trimmier near the 5400 block when a female attempted a left turn onto Nichols Drive.
The Camaro slammed into the Taurus, sending the Taurus onto its side and against a roadside fence. Both the driver and the passenger were killed.
The Camaro had four people in the car. Two of the four were taken to the hospital.
The car that was accused of racing with the Camaro was a Dodge Charger that was found about 1,000 yards from the crash scene in a nearby parking lot.
Losing a family member because of someone else’s neglect can be devastating. Our hearts go out to the victims of this tragic event.
