The Carlson Law Firm is pleased to announce that our Killeen office has a newly minted board-certified paralegal in family law.
The Carlson Law Firm’s Jami Nance has been a paralegal in the firm’s family law department for 10 years. She joins less than 400 paralegals statewide certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. An even smaller number of paralegals are certified in Family Law.
“Helping people navigate a difficult family situation is not just my job, it’s my calling,” said Nance. “Achieving board certification in family law has been a driving force for me for many years. This truly reflects my unwavering dedication to family law and my clients. It’s a testament to my belief in continuous personal and professional growth to ensure I can provide the highest expertise and compassion to those navigating complex family matters.”
The paralegal certification is similar to that for attorneys, including the following:
- A minimum of five years of experience as a paralegal
- Thorough assessment of the paralegal’s experience under the supervision of a licensed Texas attorney as well as their record of continuing education in the specialty area
- A description of specialty area duties
The certification also requires the completion of a baccalaureate or higher degree or an accredited paralegal program or two years of relevant experience for a total of seven years of on-the-job experience. Further, the paralegal must have a passing score on a half-day specialty area exam.
